The moment you wake up, seize the day by making your bed. This simple act sets a tone of order and accomplishment. Then, if you haven't done it the night before, create a to-do list for the day. Your list can include anything you want it to, you're in control. Depending on where you're at, your list could include things as small as doing a load of washing, or even brushing your teeth! If you're feeling powerful, your list might include bigger items, like work tasks, bigger personal tasks you've been putting off, or taking on the world. Whatever your list says, as you complete tasks and check off items, you receive a surge of motivation. The act of giving yourself a little ✔️ well done turns into a game you play with yourself, where every win fuels your desire to keep going – motivation breeds motivation.


Planning for Contingencies: Life's Unpredictability


In your well-structured day, don't forget to plan time for contingencies. As we all know, everything usually takes longer than expected and unexpected issues can (and often do) arise. So, instead of feeling frustrated and out of control when things on the list have to get pushed, plan in some extra time where nothing is scheduled. Documenting your thoughts, goals, feelings and experiences can help you stay on track, organise your thoughts, and gain insight into your personal development journey. Get a blank book that you can use specifically for journalling and treat it with care. It's your safe space to be your full weird and wonderful self, so, go wild! It's not uncommon to feel like you don't know how to start journalling, especially if you're new to it. If you find yourself staring at a blank pages for what feels like a long time, don't worry! It's completely normal. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth, on your last long breath, count backwards from 5. When you reach 1, open your eyes and begin to write. Write anything. Any words at all! They don't have to make sense or form readable sentences. The goal is to get pen to paper and get used to the idea of letting whatever's inside, out. After a few lines of this you'll hopefully be scribbling away in no time.


What You Consume Matters: Mind and Body Connection


What you listen to, watch, and eat can significantly impact your stress levels and your ability to handle life's curveballs. Everything you take in influences you, whether you're aware of it or not. Lots of us like to think we're impervious but the fact is that if you use a human brain, more often than not, that human brain in your head that gives you thoughts all day can and will be manipulated by external influences. Especially if you're not aware of it happening. So, if you're wishing to feel light and happy, don't put sad depressing songs or a horror film on. Don't be silly with what you choose to feed your brain. Go for content that uplifts and inspires you and nourish that beautiful brain of yours. At the same time, fuel your body with healthy foods to propel your energy and mood even further. Basically, don't fill up with red diesel if you're expecting F1 performance. In our hectic, demanding and expensive modern world, it can feel extremely difficult to live 100% organically. Start small, with whatever you feel is the easiest to change first. Trust us, making small changes really can make all the difference. You already know what's good for you and what's bad for you, your body knows. Listen!


The Inner Dialogue: Be Kind to Yourself


Your inner dialogue is running all the time. It's the constant running commentary that has no 'off' switch, until you start meditating that is. It's likely you don't even notice it anymore, much less pay it any attention but your inner dialogue can and will shape your life experience so you owe it to yourself to give it the importance and attention that it deserves. Just like you are with everyone else, it's essential to be kind to yourself. When things don't go as planned, or as we hoped, we would all do well to remember that jumping straight on the "it's because I suck" train is never a good idea and no matter how much you beat yourself up, it won't help or change the situation. Treat yourself with the same compassion and empathy you offer to others and give yourself a break when things don't go the way you want them to. It might feel a bit strange but to kickstart the process of self-love, every morning when you look in the mirror, look into your own eyes and say "I love you". Repeat it as many times as you feel is necessary until you start to believe yourself. Do this every day, just as you would tell a loved one every day. Self-love is not just a cliché; it's a cornerstone of personal growth.


Rewiring Your Brain: Breaking Out of Auto-Pilot


To reset your brain and help yourself to create a better life experience, try a simple mind hack trick. Challenge your habits by doing things differently. If you're right-handed, brush your teeth with your left hand. If you normally squeeze out the moisturiser with your left hand, try the right. You get the idea. This subtle change forces your brain to adapt and rewires its neural pathways, reminding it that auto pilot is not in control, you a much more than that and owe it to yourself to demonstrate the fact, to yourself! You and you alone are in control of your life's direction.


Cold Showers: A Shock to the System


Cold showers. Whoosh! You'd be forgiven for thinking this one seems daunting, even off putting.

After a lifetime of warm, comfortable showers, the thought of switching to cold seems ludicrous. but they offer incredible health benefits and a chance to prove your resilience to yourself. The initial shock to your system is a wake-up call that you're capable of much more than you think. It' a reminder that you are not just your body; you are an extraordinary being with untapped potential. Cold showers do wonders for making you feel powerful and ready to start your day on the right foot.
